Hey friends!! If you’ve found yourself on this page then that means that you would like to get to know me better and I couldn’t be more excited to share!
My name is Kate Rolffs and I am a seventeen year old (soon to be eighteen!) from East Peoria, Illinois. I am currently a Senior in high school, graduating this December (YAY)! I will begin college this spring to get some gen eds out of the way and to get a head start on college. I am unbelievably excited for the adventures, God moments, and cultural experiences that World Race Gap Year will bring. I cannot wait to share all of the beautiful and meaningful adventures that I will go on with the Lord and I am so excited that you want to follow along!
I am passionate about being the hands and feet of Jesus and being a witness to the people I serve for and with. I will use any excuse to go get coffee or try new foods. One of my far-fetched goals in life is to travel to every country in the world and to fully immerse myself in the local culture while I am there. I am an extroverted introvert, and I love meeting new people and hearing what they are passionate about. I serve with my church’s worship band and I am the student director for my school’s A-capella singing group. My favorite things to do in my free time are lettering & drawing.
I have been blessed with a church that has supported me on 17 mission trips and given me opportunities to talk with missionaries from around the world. God told me a long time ago that my heart belongs in missions, and all I can do is obey Him and trust that this Gap Year is where I am supposed to go.
I am most looking forward to the ministries that I will be a part of in each country while I am on the World Race. I never expected to choose route six (Swaziland, Thailand, and Nicaragua), but God placed this route on my heart and I knew this was where he wanted me. In Swaziland (now eSwatini), I will have the opportunity to work with orphans because of the devastation that AIDS has caused in the beautiful country. In Thailand, God will lead our team through prayer, helping victims of human trafficking. And in Nicaragua, I will be doing relational ministry with street children through sports, English, and crafts. I am hoping to use some of my Spanish skills here too!
I would appreciate all the prayers, encouragement, and support that you can give me as I embark on this adventure of a lifetime. I am so stoked that God is leading me on this path!
