hey family(:

I’m sitting in my kitchen having my nighttime snack of cinnamon toast crunch, and I realized that I should probably update you all. As you all know, I came home middle of march to a quarantined america.

Weird. Being away from home it’s hard not to think about what you’re excited about when you finally get back. Seeing my friends! The Blend coffee!!! Browsing target but not actually buying anything. Now that I’m home, it’s obviously nothing like what I thought. I can’t have the reunions with friends that I dreamed about. I can’t worship with my church family. There’s a lot of I can’ts right now that I don’t need to share because everyone has their own list.

I can join you in the fact that this has been a huge season of loss, and I just want you to know that I’m praying for you. Asking the Lord to show His precious face. Praying for sunshine and creative ways to navigate this world of social distancing. For Jesus kisses as you go about your day. For rest and peace. For renewed relationships and moments filled with laughter. Father I just ask that you would fill our time with sweet memories and new ways to seek you.

Personally, I’ve been sleeping in for the past two months. I’ve been taking up new hobbies like baking and actually learning how to watercolor. I’ve been learning all the countries in the world and trying to understand more about skincare, which is a big interest of mine. I’ve been working out and playing with my crazy dogs, which is always an adventure. (the other day they were playing with an ANIMAL FOOT!! You would understand if you knew I lived in the woods.) Don’t get me wrong, I do more than my fair share of watching netflix, but my time has also been full of creating and playing.

Recently the Lord has started to walk me through some things I thought I had learned while on the race about people pleasing. about walking further into my identity. about the simplicity of spending time with Him. It sometimes feels like one step forward and thirty two back. It’s the weirdest mix of encouraging and discouraging, which I’m sure is something a lot of you can relate to. I just wanted to remind you of something the Lord reminded me of:

The Lord always has more.

Whether it’s more freedom to walk in or more healing the Lord wants to give you. Even when we think that we’ve reached all He has for us in one area, there is always more. One of my mentors told me that the Lord might bring her back to something she found freedom from fifteen years ago, but HE STILL HAS MORE. It literally blows my mind. It’s so beautifully & insanely big that we aren’t even capable of understanding how much the Lord has for us.

Just wanted to share a little bit of encouragement that I’ve been holding onto so tight.

I also wanted to let you know that I have a few other blogs coming up… about future plans and also a Q & A!!

I asked a whileee back on my instagram for some questions for that blog, which I still have some of. I would love it if you would comment some questions for me to answer!!

Thank you, thank you, thank you to my biggest support system.

I love you all! Text me if you wanna have a distanced picnic or another creative idea you might have to hang out(: I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE YOU!!

<3 Kate

  1. It was supposed to be a heart emoji.

Always love reading your thoughts, Kate.

  2. Kate, glad you are home safely. You feel like all the rest of us although your rapid skid to a stop has been a bit shocking I am sure. You have been journaling, now is the time to pull it all together into something you can keep the rest of your life or even publish. Let this unique experience shape your life for the better with an open heart for ministry at home and abroad. Serve the Lord daily as you seek God’s will for the future and know our ministry begins at home and sometimes ends in our own community. The disciples were first called to minister in Jerusalem, then Samaria, then to the uttermost parts of the earth. God bless you as you pray about the future.

  3. Thank you for sharing. It is such a great reminder that jesus will always help us through what we are going through. What was your favorite part of the race? And how have you done adjusted to the race ending early? Love you kate!!!!

  4. Good morning Kate, Since you are a musician you can really identify with a devotional that I read years ago. It was a reminder of the importance of rests and pauses in a symphony. Without these pauses the music would run together into meaningless notes. We are in the midst of a huge pause in our lives. The significance of this pause may not be revealed to us until we are further along in our journey with Christ.
It is wonderful having you tucked in safe and sound with your dogs and family once again. Keep on making beautiful “music” wherever God leads you. With love and prayers, Pat

I can’t even imaging the cultural shock you have as you return home and to find a different new normal as the same time.
I know those memories with your new friends doing ministry in different parts of the world will continuing pop up in your mind when the Lord wants you to remember how simple could be life and still be happy an any circumstances.
Praying for the day we can share in person your personal testimonies of faith.
